Beer Stampede Mon 01st October 2012
A big thank you to all those who came down for some beer, food and fun at our Beer Stampede this year! We had a great time and hope you did too!
We were truly lucky with the weather on Saturday, with sunshine throughout the afternoon. Unfortunately Sunday was a little wet and by little we mean it was pouring! But everyone managed to warm up with a lamb bap and BBQ food alongside a pint of ale or two…
There was a fantastic selection of stalls selling all sorts of goodies such as fudge, jewellery, cakes, tea, breads and much more. Stalls included Bon Appa Sweet, Circus Scene, Equalitea, Stella & Dot, Colour-4-You, Delicious Dial-a-Cake, Venture Photography, Tigerbreads, Garlands, Bon Appetit Bakery and Nigel Young Confectionary.
Our fantastic local ales were supplied by West Berks, Tillingbourne, Wessex Brewery, Little Ale Cart, Growler Brewery and Bird Brewery. The ales on sale were: Golden Apostle, Horningsham Pride, Old Gray Fergie, Dr Hextor’s Healer, A.N.O.B, Gold Star, Old Father Thames, Full Circle, Humorist, Black Troll, Real Deal, Growler Bitter, Falls Gold, Mr Chubbs and Russian Stout – the latter being a Beer Stampede favourite selling out first!
There was also live entertainment on both days of the weekend from a diverse array of bands such as Dolly and the Clothes Pegs, The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band, Pangbourne Silver Band, Sundara Karma and more.
There are more photos on the way so watch this space!

Hillbrooke go to Godminster Tue 10th July 2012
At the beginning of the month the team had a day out to Godminster Farm to learn a little more about how Godminster cheese is made – as we use it in all of our restaurants across the board. The first stop of the tour was the soft cheese making unit where we got to oversee the fresh milk from Godminster’s own cows being turned into their delicious, creamy cheese. Of course health and safety rules applied, for the sake of the cheese, hence the ‘quirky’ outfits in the image below.
The next part of the tour took the team on a trip through the fields, travelling the only way possible on a farm – by tractor and trailer… in the rain! It was on the back of the tractor that we got a chance to see the animals, crops and woodland, without which there would be no Godminster.
Finally we were allowed back inside and out of the rain for lunch, which included salad, grown by Godminster’s gardener Nicole, fresh baked bread by The Chapel Bakery and Restaurant in Bruton and of course Godminster cheese!
After lunch the team took a stroll around the walked garden, learning about all the different fruits and herbs used to experiment new products with. Then it was time to milk the cows (some of the team were more eager than others)!
Our day at Godminster was both fascinating and entertaining. It gave us a chance to connect with one of our suppliers so we could learn and truly appreciate the processes of a dairy farm.

FOUND! Fri 02nd March 2012
Missing Elephant – FOUND! Thanks to Fielders Farm Shop Pangbourne
We are pleased to announce the discovery of our Missing Elephant. Just over a week after its disappearance our Elephant has been returned!
Thanks goes to Annie Wild Manageress at Fielders Farm Shop on Pangbourne Road. Annie pulled into the gravel drive this morning at 8 am ready to open up for business at 9 am to be greeted by our elephant in their field. Having read the story in Reading Chronicle (see link below) last week Annie (pictured on the right) called to alert us.
With very little damage aside chips to the paintwork on the tusks, the elephant has come home. Annie was thrilled to have found the elephant and gratefully accepted the ‘reward’ of complimentary Dinner Bed & Breakfast for herself and partner.
We are now thinking perhaps we should commission a baby elephant to sit alongside this one? Let us know what you think and email firstname.lastname@example.org
With thanks to Fielders Farm Shop Pangborne Road – open 7 days a week from 9 am (10 am on Sundays) providing fresh local seasonal produce – visit http://www.fieldersfarmshop.co.uk/index.html
Missing Elephant Wed 22nd February 2012
REWARD – Complimentary Dinner Bed & Breakfast for two
If you spot our Elephant please call 0118 984 22 44
Or email a snap into email@example.com
The Elephant has been a bit of a landmark in Pangbourne since 2007. It was commissioned to be made in Rajasthan Northern India, so although it’s not of great monitory value it’s extremely precious to the team here.
Snow was falling... Tue 14th February 2012
