History

The Elephant has returned to its roots. The hotel was originally called The Elephant when it first opened in the late nineteenth century, but its name was changed to The Copper Inn in 1967. Hillbrooke Hotels took over the hotel in 2007 and, after spending nearly 4 months giving it a complete refurbishment, it reopened just before Christmas that year – once more under its original name.

Above shows an early advertisement for The Elephant Hotel at Pangbourne. The hotel has always formed a central meeting place within the village of Pangbourne. In fact what is now the hotel car-park used to be the stabling block for the hotel up until the turn of the 20th century!

Our business facilities are elegant yet practical. Travelling away on business doesn’t mean you have to give up your home comforts. Three meeting rooms accommodate from 10 to 60 delegates. The hotel has a wireless network throughout, and all our conference rooms have integrated audio technology, as well as oodles of natural daylight. Getting to us is simple too - 10 minutes from the M4, with easy access to the M25, M40 and Heathrow.

We couldn’t be better placed.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Elephant. Download our Corporate and Conferencing Brochure here.
